Key Aspects of Sikh Children’s Education Journey

Role Of Parents
  • Ensure regular attendance to help your child stay on track.
  • Practice daily Sikhi Time by reviewing lessons, sharing Sikh values or history, or praying together.
  • Assist with homework and keep all materials organized in a binder.
  • Submit completed work on time via WhatsApp or directly to the teacher.
  • Maintain positive and respectful communication to support your child’s progress.
Year End Expectations & Outcomes
  • Trace and begin writing Punjabi letters independently.
  • Demonstrate overall readiness and participate confidently in class.
  • Take part in Akhar Show and Tell, identifying Punjabi letters and colors and speaking 1–2 simple sentences.
  • Recite the Mool Mantar (or more) and recognize Guru names with their contributions.
  • Share three facts about Sikhi and count from 1–10 in Punjabi.
Class Routine
  • Class begins at 35 minutes and may extend to 50 minutes by the end of the year.
  • Each session includes a meet and greet and Mool Mantar recitation.
  • Focus on the Letter of the Day (shape, sound, and word practice).
  • Learn Punjabi counting and colors.
  • Practice tracing or writing in the work packet and receive homework instructions.
  • Include review days, show-and-tell, and occasional in-person crafts, with flexibility based on students’ needs and events.
